Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

In the wake of the killings, public individuals shared different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate could have intervened when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
