Reigning Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.
The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a record ÂŁ11m in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".
